There is probably no one who will buy meat products in a grocery store that sells fish, or in one where the fresh products lie beside the stale, or in anything which does not look clean or which might have harmful bacteria or microorganisms which can cause illnesses. The atmosphere of any store is important, and this applies to a website designed for your business.

Remember that a website acts like the owner’s grocery store on the internet, representing the business. It should give the visitors the impression that the person behind it or managing it is a professional – someone who knows exactly what he is doing and not just a newbie. The design of a website can either make or break a sale. This means that the atmosphere or the design of a website should also be pleasing to its visitors or potential customers. This can only be attained if the website has a very good design and looks professional.

The over-all look of the website is very important. However, this is not the only thing that needs to be taken into consideration when planning the design of a website. The website’s ease of use must also be kept in mind. It is recommended for people who are planning to have a new website to take some time to look at other websites to get some ideas on what functions and features can be incorporated in the new website which can help in achieving its goal which is to generate more sales leads. When doing the research, take down some notes in things like, what makes a website appealing to its visitors, what it should have in order to for them to keep on coming back or avail of the products or services. Remember that when someone visits a website, that person is either looking for an information or is planning to avail of a certain product or service. So, the website to build must be able to provide its visitors the information which they are looking for.

Equally as important are the contents of the site. The contents of a site should be relevant to the services or products that the business is offering. They should be able to persuade the visitors to avail of the product or service by giving them the sense of urgency to purchase. Remember marketing 101. Facts can be given but always promote, promote, promote. Make the potential customers think that the product is the solution to their problem.

Now, a website has many pages. There are some who has 3, 4, 10 or 20. But there are some that has more than hundred pages in it. However, regardless of the number of pages that a site has, the most important page is the “Home” page. The Home page is the main page of the website. It serves as the main avenue of the website where the customers can shop. It should be able to give its visitors an idea as to what they can expect to find inside. It should be very easy to view and loads fast. The most important thing to keep in mind is that it is in the home page where the visitors give their first impression about the website. It can be very simple but should be eye-catching, easy to view and loads really fast. More often than not, if it takes long time for the home page to load, the visitors will click away in order to save time. Then, they will search for another site where they can find the information or product that they are looking for.

The choice of colors to use has an effect on its over-all appeal. It is always better to choose the mild ones. If the website will be used primarily for the owner to write articles or blog, which means that its visitors will be doing lots of reading, it is best to use just black and white. Other colors could be used in tables which can brighten up the page. But always remember that the site should still has its professional look which is generally what is more appealing to visitors. Do keep in mind too, that different visitors use different browsers and their computer also have different resolutions and different sizes of screens. Therefore, it is best to just set the pixels to 800×600 and instead of setting tables in inches, it is better to span a percentage of the page.

Again, the overall look a feel of the website can either make or break a sale. Enough time should then be allotted in planning it to make sure that the website will serve its purpose of getting more sales. In addition, with a very good internet marketing strategy in place, it will surely be a success.
